Custom Jewelry Policy

  • To reserve your place in our custom queue and begin any work, we require a non-refundable deposit of $1,000.

  • When the stone represents a significant portion of the project’s overall cost, we will require a second deposit before securing the selected stone. This is typically 50% of the estimated total, with your initial $1,000 deposit applied toward that amount. Once a gemstone has been secured specifically for your project or significant work has been initiated, the deposit becomes non-refundable to cover these costs.

  • The remaining balance is due upon completion, before delivery or pickup.

  • We will create an invoice for you to pay online by card or ACH bank transfer

  • Orders placed with a shipping address in New York State as well as orders being picked up in-store are subject to the corresponding sales tax rate for your area

  • The initial quote is based on our best assessment of current market rates for precious metals, gemstones, and other materials. Because prices can fluctuate, the final cost may differ slightly from the initial estimate. A final quote will be provided once the design has been selected and all materials have been chosen. Stones will only be secured after the Client approves the final quote—and, when applicable, pays the second deposit—at which point the price is confirmed and will not change.

  • Any additional design changes requested by the Client after the initial estimate may also result in an adjusted final price.

  • It is the Client’s responsibility to provide an accurate ring size, bracelet length, or other measurements before production begins.

  • Some designs, particularly those with certain gemstone settings or eternity bands, cannot be resized after completion.

  • For orders over $5,000, the Designer offers one complimentary size adjustment after delivery if the fit is not perfect, provided the design allows for resizing. For orders under this amount, the piece can be resized for a fee of $150.

  • The Client would be responsible for shipping the piece to us for resizing, as well as return postage, if located outside of New York City.

  • If additional resizing is required beyond the first complimentary adjustment, or if the design cannot be resized, a remake may be required at an additional cost.

  • To ensure the best fit, the Designer recommends having measurements taken by a professional jeweler before placing an order.

  • The estimated completion date is dependent on the Client's timely responses to any inquiries regarding the project.

  • If the Designer requires confirmation on details such as ring size, stone selection, engraving, or other specifications, delays in the Client’s response may push back the delivery date.

  • The Designer is not responsible for delays caused by a lack of prompt communication from the Client.

  • As part of the process, the Designer can create a wax or metal model of the jewelry for the Client to try on before casting the final piece. This is an optional step in the process, but is a great way to preview proportions and fit (the Designer may recommend it if the particular design is not resizable). Please note that opting in could add several weeks to the total production time due to the additional steps involved.

  •  The Client will review and approve the final design before production begins.

  • Minor design modifications may be made before production at no extra charge.

  • Changes requested after production has started may result in additional costs and extended production time.

  • The Client may cancel their order prior to approving the final quote and before any materials have been sourced. If the project is canceled during this window, no further payment will be due—but the initial $1,000 deposit will be retained.

  • Once significant design work has been completed (including CAD renderings, wax models, or hand-carved prototypes), or once stones or other materials have been sourced on behalf of the Client, the project is considered non-cancellable.

  • All sales are final once the piece has been completed and delivered. No refunds or exchanges will be issued after the Client receives the finished piece.

  • Estimated production time for custom projects is 6-8 weeks from the date of deposit, provided the Client responds promptly to all inquiries.

  • Delays due to unforeseen circumstances (such as supplier delays or material availability) is unlikely, but would be communicated promptly.

  • The Designer sources only high-quality, ethically responsible materials.

  • If the Client provides their own gemstones or metal, the Designer is not responsible for any damage or loss incurred during production.

  • For heirloom reset projects, a separate liability waiver will be sent to the client for agreement and signature.

  • Once complete, we’re happy to provide an appraisal if you plan to insure your piece. For orders of $5,000 and over, this service is complimentary. For pieces under that threshold, a $110 fee applies.

  • Obtaining an appraisal after the piece is completed could add an additional week or so to the timeline. The Client may decline this service if desired.

  • The purpose of an appraisal is for insurance replacement value, which may be higher or lower than the actual purchase price.

  • Appraisals do not determine the market resale value of the piece, but rather estimate what it would cost to replace the item with materials and craftsmanship of similar quality.

  • The Designer is not responsible for insuring the jewelry after it has been delivered to the Client.

  • The Designer is not liable for any damage, loss, or theft of the jewelry after it has been delivered to the Client.

  • While Elvie Fine does not offer a formal warranty, each piece is crafted with the utmost care and attention to detail. Should any concerns arise down the line, clients are encouraged to reach out; support or repair recommendations will be provided whenever possible.

  • The Designer retains full ownership of the custom design, including all sketches, CAD files, wax models, and final jewelry pieces.

  •  The Designer retains all rights to use photos of the completed piece for promotional purposes.
